Thubten Shedrup Ling Monastery, where monks can devote themselves to study, meditation and spiritual transformation.


Established in 1996, Thubten Shedrup Ling Monastery is situated near Bendigo in central Victoria, Australia.

 

TSL Monastery is part of a very unique community that includes Machig Labdron Nunnery, Atisha Centre and the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion, all on one site and supporting each other.

FPMT sangha members (IMI International Mahayana Institute) have fostered Buddhist centers globally, including hospices and monastic communities. In Australia, starting with the Chenrezig Institute, the community has grown to 21 centers. Bendigo’s donated land now hosts Atisha Centre, TSL Monastery, the Great Stupa, and Machig Labdron Nunnery, nurturing diverse spiritual activities.

FPMT

The Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT) transmits the Mahayana Buddhist tradition and values worldwide through Tibetan Buddhist teachings, meditation, community service, retreat centres, and projects that preserve the tradition. FPMT is based on the Gelugpa tradition as taught by our founder, Lama Thubten Yeshe and Spiritual Director, Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

Our Teachers

Atisha Centre

​​Atisha Centre is a Tibetan Buddhist meditation centre, providing opportunities for study and practice of a spiritual path, where people can develop their natural wisdom and compassion.

The Great Stupa

The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion is being built near Bendigo Australia, and is 50 metres square at its base and nearly 50 metres high. This makes it the largest stupa in the Western World.

Machig Labdron Nunnery

Machig Labdron is an Australian Buddhist nunnery located north of the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion in Bendigo. The nunnery compliments Atisha Centre and Thubten Shedrub Ling monastery with all four entities on the same land.
